Doing the opposite

The Opposite is an iconic Seinfeld episode. In it George Costanza decides that every decision he's ever made has been wrong and it's ruining his life. Jerry kindly points out, "If every instinct you have is wrong then the opposite would have to be right." This revelation prompts George to go through the rest of the day doing the exact opposite of what his gut tells him from situation to situation.

Predictably, the results are funny:

I've been thinking of this episode quite a bit lately. I'd hardly say anything so hyperbolic as every decision I've been making ruining my life, but I'm definitely starting to question instincts that lead to the sam patterns that I'm trying to break or improve. Maybe an Opposite Day would be a good practice.

Who knows what kind of opportunities might present themselves?
