Library Letters

A wonderful collection of letters addressed to the children of the Troy Public Library during the 1970s, thanks to Marguerite Hart:

In early 1971, Hart wrote to dozens of actors, authors, artists, musicians, playwrights, librarians, and politicians of the day. She asked them to write a letter to the children of Troy about the importance of libraries, and their memories of reading and of books.

Contains letters from all kinds of people and disciplines, including Neil Armstrong, Isaac Asimov, Ronald Reagan and Dr. Seuss.

I'm glad somebody took the time to convert them to PDFs and post them for posterity. It also makes me ponder the role of the library in the lives of children these days, in a world where information is slowly becoming instantaneous and ubiquitous.
